Dr. Eugene W. Heller
Henry Schein Vice President of Practice Transitions (Practice Acquisition) Eugene W. Heller, DDS, CVA, is a 1976 graduate of Marquette University School of Dentistry. His pre-professional school background included accounting and small business tax consulting. During his 15 years in clinical practice, his Curriculum Vitae in practice management was extensive. In 1985 Dr. Heller established his own Practice Management Consulting Company, leaving private practice in 1990 to pursue consulting and practice brokerage/transition consulting full-time. Since then, Dr. Heller has written the Practice Management Program used by a major national healthcare consulting company, while training more than 40 of their practice management consultants. He has also written and published dozens of articles on transitions and practice management. Dr. Heller has lectured throughout the United States and internationally, including many State and National Dental Association’s, and over the past ten years, he has also lectured at more than twenty-five dental schools. Topics have included Practice Management, Determination of Practice Values, The Buying and Selling of Healthcare Practices, Associateships, Formation of Partnerships and other Group Practice Relationships, and OSHA Compliance. He has also served four years as a consultant to St. Paul Liability Insurance Company, evaluating alleged malpractice claims, and as an expert witness for both malpractice cases and practice valuations. During the past twenty years, Dr. Heller has been involved as a consultant to hundreds of practice transitions involving the sale of practices and the formation of partnerships, group practices, office sharing arrangements, and other practice transitions, in addition to conducting practice appraisals for many of these transactions. He is presently the Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer for Henry Schein Professional Practice Transitions, the dental practice transition division of Henry Schein, Inc. Although no longer in clinical practice, he continues to maintain active membership in the American and Wisconsin Dental Associations. Many of the states in which Henry Schein Professional Practice Transitions operates require Real Estate Brokerage licenses for “business opportunity sales”. Therefore, Dr. Heller is also licensed as a business broker in the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois.
